mission statement
"Creating a community of confident and compassionate, lifelong learners; who will engage and transform the world around them, through their love and service toward God and mankind. Providing academic support and resources to parents and children that will equip children with all that is needed to achieve academic, social, and spiritual success. Transforming lives through the ministry of Jesus Christ"
we need your help
Would you join us and help to make a difference in the lives of these children and families? GoFundMe is just one of the strategies that we will implement over the next year as we have family member volunteers helping to write grants, solicit businesses, and seek out other funding opportunities. These resources along with increased enrollment will be pivotal in supplying the future needs of the academy.
Your generosity at this grassroots level can make all the difference for a student, family, or faculty member who has the heart to make this sacrifice. Your prayers are also greatly needed and appreciated. Thank you in advance for whatever it is that you can do.
how it all started
In 2020, our community was faced with a need involving students who were already struggling in their current school models now being hindered by COVID shut-downs, economic loss, as well as mental and emotional distresses. Academic pressures, physical health issues, and a lack of emotional and mental care left many students and families with a sense of desperation and hopelessness.
Armed with compassion and faith, a small group of concerned parents, ministers, and teachers united to form The Truth Academy. With no financial backing and a completely volunteer staff it was going to be an uphill battle. However, through prayer, patience, commitment and love we saw students not only survive but thrive. Fifty percent of those who returned to the public school system excelled beyond their expected grade level and were promoted to a grade level higher than expected. Some who came in with behavioral issues have gone on to become respected leaders among their peers.
T.R.U.T.H. WORKS!
We are currently celebrating a high school student who had been kicked out of her previous school and institutionalized for behavioral issues. She was diagnosed with autism by the same school and was struggling due to bullying connected to her autism. Although she loved learning and she loved people the system that she was in was failing her. She was being destroyed from the inside out.
Today, she is vibrant, excelling academically, socially and emotionally. She is a totally different person according to the testimony of her own family members who continually extend their gratitude to the academy and its staff. We however, are humbled and grateful to be a part of what we know that God is doing in the lives of our students and are committed to their success. We are servants of our community offering hope and help for families in need.
our approach
There is no one-size-fits-all approach that will succeed in educating and equipping our youth. Therefore, we offer curriculum and teaching methods that will accommodate the specific needs and abilities of our students. We are also committed to providing healthy balanced meals to help promote energy and focus. Our approach has remediated students that have fallen behind as well as excel students at every level. We see drastic change in the behavior and overall well-being of our students as we teach and counsel from a perspective of developing an individual person, not just a student.
There is only one problem. Without funding and enrollment, we will not survive. We currently have students on standby that would like to be a part of the program but without funding we will not be able to continue or increase our enrollment. We are committed to providing the care and consistency needed for each classroom.
